"A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum (1)," Dress Rehearsal, Priscilla Beach Theatre, Priscilla Beach, Manomet, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA
Priscilla Beach Theatre (PBT) today opens its run of the classic favorite, "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum," for 11 performances. This show is directed by Ron Fassler, a PBT alumnus from the mid-1970's, also director of last summer's blockbuster PBT hit, "Fiddler on the Roof," and currently a writer, actor, and director in television, film, and theatre in Los Angles and New York. The run is produced by Bob and Sandy Malone. Musical direction by Christopher Ricci.
"A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum," is a non-stop laugh-fest in which Pseudolus, a crafty slave, struggles to win the hand of a beautiful but slow-witted courtesan named Philia, for his young master, Hero, in exchange for freedom. The plot twists and turns with cases of mistaken identity, slamming doors, and a showgirl or two. This unforgettable, hysterical musical allows a terrific ensemble of comedic actors to shine--"something for everyone, a comedy tonight!" Sondheim's joyous, musical romp through Rome has desperate lovers, scheming neighbors and secrets behind every toga. (Source:PBT)
The following images were captured during early dress rehearsals and are in order of occurrence in the performance. (As always, click on an image for higher resolution and larger view).
I have been asked by some readers why I publish so many photos of Priscilla Beach Theatre performances. Quite simply, I know that many cast members and their families like to download copies as a remembrance of the show. I encourage such sharing for non-commercial personal use whether passing along a link to the blog post or actual downloading of specific images. That being said - enjoy!

I'll have another post in a few days with different images from the final dress rehearsal.
There are just a few tickets left. Contact PBT online or by phone at 508-224-4888 for tickets or info.
