"West Side Story (2)," Priscilla Beach Theatre, Priscilla Beach, Manomet, Plymouth, Massachusetts, USA

The classic "West Side Story" opened this week for a fourteen performance sold-out run at Priscilla Beach Theatre (PBT). This is the second of two dress rehearsals that I had the opportunity to photograph. The first one is at this link.

"West Side Story is one the most well known musicals and greatest love stories of all time. This is the modern day retelling of Romeo and Juliet. Leonard Bernstein and Steven Sondheim's score is considered one of the best ever written.

The original 1957 Broadway production, directed and choreographed by Jerome Robbins and produced by Robert E. Griffith and Harold Prince, marked Sondheim's Broadway debut. It ran for 732 performances before going on tour." (PBT)

While a live theatre performance is an ultimate team effort and product, special credit has to go to director Emily Maltby and lighting designer Ellie Rogers - they created the "look" that I was fortunate enough to capture during some of these moments.

Many members of the team that make all this happen behind the scenes:

Producers: Bob and Sandy Malone
Director: Emily Maltby
Musical Director: Patrick Sulken
Production Manager: Joshua Patino
Stage Manager: Ross Magnant
Costumes: Megan Mistretta
Lighting: Ellie Rogers
Sound: Chris Conti
Choreography: Emily Maltby, Jacqueline Holloway, Annelise Baker

The following images are in order of appearance in the show. Click on an image for a higher resolution version if your device supports that action.

Co-owner and Guardian Bob Malone, in the PBT tradition, introduces each show to the audience to lend that personal touch.

And once again, the magic of theatre in general and PBT in particular concludes with a resounding ovation after sharing another transformative experience.
